| The Chieftains are Ireland more than any other group of musicians. Their breakthrough to an audience beyond the ranks of Irish music enthusiasts came with the group's appearance on the soundtrack to Stanley Kubrick's movie Barry Lyndon led to extensive further film work). Since the late '70s, their albums have settled into an effective use creativity as the group has sought to add new wrinkles to an old repertory without repeating itself. Worked and respected by many of the major bands of the world. Worked with the Rolling Stones and many other people in the Music Business on Guest Albums they are also popular in China. The picture above was taken at the first WOMAD in Bristol in England. They themselves are in the Premier of World Musicians but have also stayed true the roots of the music. |
